“There are so many great ones to choose from — Hoover’s visually appealing ‘A Chicken in Every Pot,’ Barry Goldwater’s play-on-words ‘In Your Heart You Know He’s Right,’ Reagan’s optimistic ‘It’s Morning in America’ — but I think I’d have to go with the short, simple, rhyming ‘I Like Ike.’ It worked well on campaign buttons and bumper stickers. And it was remarkably ahead of its time, given that it was created decades before we ever heard of likes on social media. As I write this, Mike Bloomberg has just suspended his campaign, which is too bad, because ‘I Like Mike’ could have worked for him. Oh well.”
